Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Caroll (4/5)

The Disney Classic, Alice in Wonderland’s original story is written by Lewis Caroll as he brings us into a reverie-like journey of Alice and her thoughts. Caroll told this story to his acquaintance, Alice as he was friends with her family. When the original story was told, it was about half of the published version as it was only for Alice’s entertainment.

Alice is dozing off as her sister reads to her when she sees a white rabbit with a pocket watch. As unusual as this seems, she follows the rabbit where they fall down a rabbit hole that seems never-ending. That is only the start of her journey as she runs into talking animals, grinning cats, and mad queens.

This book was very nice to read since Caroll wrote in a way where everything was clear. It was very easy to visualize what was going on. There were also occasionally illustrations which I enjoyed very much. When he included poems, some of the fonts and formatting were different which I thought was an interesting way to convey it.

Overall, if you enjoyed the Disney movie, this book may be enjoyable as well. I personally enjoyed the book more due to the amount of detail in it. If you are looking for a fantasy-packed short read, this book may be for you.
