Allegiant by Veronica Roth (4/5)

After a war between the 5 different factions named Abnegation, Amity, Candor, Dauntless, and Erudite, the main character Tris Prior and her friends found out something that changed everything. By watching a simple video of her ancestors, Tris Prior and her friends embarked on a journey outside of the area that they used to call home just to find the meaning of the video. During their journey, they learn about the outside world and its many different people. Unfortunately, this journey wasn’t easy and some decisions were made that could benefit or harm Tris and her friends.

This book was very inspirational and entertaining to me because of many different reasons. The reason why this book was very inspirational to me is that this book taught me the meaning of life. What I learned is that life is not always perfect and that there will always be decisions that can change a person's life either beneficially or harmfully. The reason why this book was very entertaining for me is that I was very eager to read about what happens next in the book. This book was filled with adventure and mystery that it was hard to put down and do other important things. According to the author’s and reader’s opinions about the book Allegiant, there was 1 thing that I agreed with and 1 thing that I disagreed with. The 1 thing I agreed with was that Tris’s choices have really driven the book forward. The reason I agree with Veronica Roth’s opinion about Tris is that this book really displays Tris and her search for her identity. Tris’s search for identity has led this book to an adventure that sounds really appealing to readers all around the world. The 1 thing I disagree with was that Tris’s choices were the only ones that have really driven the book forward. The reason why I disagree with this is that although Tris is the main character of this book, there are many other characters that have really driven the book forward and one of those characters is Four or Tobias. Four or Tobias also has decisions and choices that can lead him into finding whatever he is looking for whether it is an identity or something else. Four and the other characters are also one of the main factors that make the book very interesting and adventurous. The possibility this book suggests is that the things you see in the past are not what it seems in the future. Another possibility this book suggests is that the outside world isn’t what it seems when living in a confined area. An example of these two possibilities in the book Allegiant is when Tris and her friends embark on their journey. At the beginning of the journey of Tris and her friends, they ran into a conflict of beliefs. Many events occurred in that conflict that made Tris and her friends have the idea to go on an adventure to the outside world. As the journey starts many thoughts came into the mind that changed Tris and her friend’s perspective of their past and future and their childhood homes. The matter the book left out is the main reason why Tris and her friends decided to follow the video and travel to the unknown world. This book also left out why they couldn’t leave their childhood homes in the first place. The reason why I say these factors were left out is that the book didn’t really make sense in terms of explaining. Although these factors may not seem important, they are actually very crucial as readers get further and further into the book. I am against the author’s opinion of the main character being the one that drives the book is because according to an author named Margaret Atwood, she says that secondary characters like Tobias should be just as important as the main character. This book affects me by helping me realize the true meaning of life and that it is not always going to be easy. My opinion of life being easier has changed because of Tris and the other characters’ lives in the book. Although their lives are not real, they can still apply to real-world situations. This book relates to me by being an adventurous girl just like Tris who is very curious about the world and fights for herself.

I believe that this book should be rated a 4 because it is filled with adventure and intensity. The reason why I only gave it a 4 is because I feel like some scenes need to be explained more clearly. Especially, the parts where Tris and her friends start their journey, but otherwise it was very entertaining and fun to read. For potential readers of this book, I highly recommend this book to you if you love adventure books.
