Before We Were Yours is the perfect candidate because every time I opened it the tedious writing and dull plot nearly put me to sleep! Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate was published in 2017. Before We Were Yours has a sequel that is called Before and After. This book is historical fiction that is based on a true series of events. Before We Were Yours is about a girl named Rill and her family. While her parents are away Rill and her siblings are taken to an orphanage and a tragic series of events happen from there. Before We Were Yours contains a lot of drawn-out descriptions of the insignificant details surrounding the story. Lisa Wingate also utilizes metaphors so much that the story being told makes zero sense. The structure of the story confused me until the last 2 chapters, then I finally figured it out. I did not enjoy this book because of these reasons, and likely would not recommend it to a friend.
