Ky was sent away from his lover Cassia to The Outer Province to fight in the war. The only people that were sent were aberrations. Aberrations are people who weren’t born in The Society and lived in the outer province before The Society. Cassia is at a disciplinary camp for all the trouble that she has caused The Society and her family is in a different Province living on a farm. Cassia gets a visit from her partner Xander and they go on a date at a museum about Cassia’s province. There they talk about her escape plan to find Ky and save him from the war. At museums, if you asked, “Could you tell me more about my province?” They would know that you wanted to trade something for information. There she traded a compass and learned about something called the rebellion. The rebellion tried to end the society but never has. Cassia's plan then changed to finding Ky then finding the rebellion. Ky ran away from the outer province during an attack with Vick another aberration his age and a young boy named Eli. They started a long journey. A plain came to Cassia’s camp and was taking aberrations to the war, Cassia jumped on the plain when others weren’t looking. When she got there she was asking around if people had seen Ky and everyone said no except for one person who was at the same war spot as Ky when he ran away. Together Cassia, the guy, and a girl named Indie ran away the same way as Ky. Soon enough the guy ditched them sending them off on the journey all alone.
This book was pretty good but it wasn’t as good as the first book Matched. A reason why I didn’t like it as much was that half the time the story is just about them traveling around The Outer Province. Following one another but never seeing each other. I think that if you really like the first book Matched then you’ll want to read this book to continue the series. I really didn’t like this book but it added context and uncovered secrets about the last book. I think this was just a short sequel so that the ending book made more sense.
