Divergent by Veronica Roth (4/5)

In Divergent Beatrice is the main character who went to take a test. In this test, they decide what section job they should be put into. After the test, though she is accepted into all the factions the higher rankings are not aware of that. She chooses a faction and goes into the Dauntless which is basically the faction for bravery. She is known as the Divergent and is told not to tell anyone as it may endanger her. The fun continues after that as she has the power of collapsing the whole society after she starts to realize everything wrong with it.

I thought that the book was interesting and a dystopian novel with a lot of imagery and the plot was good as well. It had many different perspectives in the book including the divergents and the higher rankings. The book suggests possibilities of an apocalyptic environment occur where everyone is divided into separate jobs and police patrol everyone constantly. I agree with the author’s point that if society is split up into different jobs no one will have the freedom to do what they want. Maze runner is also a book that agrees with this book as they are both apocalyptic environments. The book shows us that we need to be aware of what's happening so that things like this don’t get out of control and start to happen. The book is good along with the story which furthermore helps us understand the message the author is trying to send. Overall it's a Sci-fi book and a really fun read. It also has a lot of apocalyptic stuff if that's what you're interested in. I would suggest this book to people who like sci-fi and it's just a fun book all around.
