Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling (4/5)

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is a great book and I would recommend reading it. The book starts out with Harry waking up from a dream in a pool of cold sweat. He dreamt that Lord Voldemort had killed an old man for intruding on his secret hideout. After getting ready to leave, he went to the Quidditch cup with Cedric Diggory and the Weasley's. After the game there was an attack by the death eaters. Harry was knocked out because of all the commotion. When he woke up he was encountered by a Death Eater and almost killed by him. When he arrives at Hogwarts he and all his fellow classmates are told that the Tri-Wizard tournament will take place. At the Ceremony where the Goblet of Fire choses three different competitors from each school something strange happens. After choosing the three contestants to compete, the Goblet of fire starts spitting out a fourth name, Harry Potter. Everyone is shocked by this, Harry the most. He is questioned by Dumbledore, Snape, and Mcgonagall, and they decide that he did not put his name in the Goblet of fire. After this happens Harry's relationship with Ron takes a plunge because Ron thinks that Harry left him out of it by not putting his name in the Goblet either. Harry has a conversation with Mad Face moody and he gives him the idea to use the summoning spell during the first challenge. When the first challenge arrives the objective is to get the egg from a dragon and come out alive. Harry does this when he summons his Firebolt, flies around for a little bit with the dragon chasing him and eventually gets the egg. After the first challenge Cedric gives Harry the tip to open the dragon egg underwater so he can find out what the next challenge is. After opening the egg underwater he finds out that in the next challenge he is going to have to save his friends from drowning in under an hour. Harry goes to Neville Longbottom for help and gets Gillyweed from him. Gillyweed is a herb that can partially turn you into a fish for a certain amount of time. When the second challenge begins Harry eats the Gillyweed and awkwardly falls into the water. After looking around for a while he sees his friend Ron. He found Ron first but realized that there was nobody to save one of the other contestants. Sacrificing his first place finish he saves Ron and the other contestant. Because of actions instead of being awarded third place he gets second place. After the Second challenge was over the third and final challenge took place. The objective of the challenge is to find the portkey in the middle of the maze and touch it so you can be returned back to the start of the maze. Harry entered the Maze second because he got second place in the last challenging. When he entered he was encountered by many strange creatures. He ran into Victor Krum and he tried using the killing curse against cedric. Viktor was not the type of person to do this for a challenge so he figured he was under a spell. Harry and Cedric were both running to get to the Portkey first when Cedric was tripped up by some roots. Harry had a choice, He could either leave Cedric or go to the portkey and win. He decided to save Cedrick and they both decided to go back together as tied winners. When they both touched it they did not arrive back at the start of the Maze. They arrived at the Graveyard that Harry had been seeing in his dreams. He tried to go back but Cedric was already killed by wormtail and Harry was trapped. Wormtail cut Harry, took some of his blood then put Lord voldemort in the revival Pot. When he did this Lord Voldemort was back after 14 years. Voldemort challenged Harry to duel. Harry had no choice but accept the duel and fight him. When Harry had a chance to escape he did so and went to the portkey. WHen he first got back to the start of the Maze there were first cries of joy that soon turned to curries of fear. This is because he had Cedric’s dead body with him when he left. They gave Professor Moody a truth telling potion and he admitted he was the one that set Harry up for everything. This book was a great book but the big plot twist that it was actually the DA teacher that Put Harry’s name in the Goblet wasn’t surprising. This book taught me to keep going even when times get rough. This because Harry was framed and an even his own friend turned his back on him. However, He kept going through the tough times and refused to ever give up.
