Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz(4/5)

Have you ever wondered how it would feel to be able to communicate with the dead? Well, the book Odd Thomas, written by Dean Koontz gives us an excellent understanding of what it would feel like. This book was published in “2003” so it gives us the point of view of someone with similar thinking. This story is about a small-town fry cook which can communicate with ghosts and uses this ability to prevent crime and to help achieve justice for the ghosts. But little did he know that his life would completely change. A stranger “The King of Rock and Roll” appears and wants to spread evil across the world. This makes the life of Odd’s, Vigorous. He is on the clock to eradicate the evil rapidly spreading. The pacing of the book isn't great and the author doesn't go that much in-depth. It would have been a higher rating if the author added more suspense to the book, to help make the reader more interested. Even though this book doesn't use great language and word choice. It still helped me learn the importance of cherishing what we have and that you should always speak out to help protect people, regardless if you know them or not. This story is very memorable because of its unique plot and some of the mind-blowing events that occurred. This novel also closely relates to a world-renowned book called Harry Potter. The crazy events in this story are closely related to Harry potter. On the other hand, I disagreed with some of the author's opinions. For example, the author doesn't add suspense to some points in the story. Adding suspense would make this story a 10/10. It makes the reader curious about what will happen, making them want to read more. Therefore, I think that this novel is very good. But could have been better with the addition of suspense.
