Percy Jackon and the Olympians: The Titan's Curse (4.5/5)

The son of a Greek god, dyslexic, had ADHD, and always wants to adventure, leading to many dangerous decisions. This is the life of Percy Jackson, a brave teenager who does not know his delicate fate.

Rick Riordan’s novel series Percy Jackson and the Olympians is about Perseus “Percy” Jackson, a teenage boy who adventures on many quests that ultimately lead to a final battle which can either destroy the Greek Gods of Olympus or save them from the wrath of the Titan Lord Kronos. Percy learns that he is the demigod (also known as half-blood) son of Poseidon, the Greek God of the sea, and is the one that is destined to make an important choice for this dilemma. To avoid dangers, he stays at Camp Half-Blood, a safe refuge for half-bloods that are hunted by monsters. However, to protect those he loves, he leaves Camp Half-Blood many times to save the world from disasters.

The Titan’s Curse takes place one and a half years before the ultimate decision Percy has to make. He finds two more half-bloods who he has to bring back to Camp Half-Blood. Percy succeeds, but in the process, he loses one of his best friends, Annabeth. He receives help from the goddess of the wild, Artemis when defeating the monster that captured Annabeth. Artemis realizes that there is a great danger that is arising, which she needs to destroy before it becomes a threat to the Olympians. Percy takes the half-bloods back to Camp Half-Blood with the assistance of Apollo, the god of the sun, along with Thalia, another half-blood, Grover, a satyr, and the Hunters of Artemis. When he gets back, he hears of a prophecy, one that involves a treacherous journey and the threat Artemis is looking for. Percy is not accepted to go on the quest at the beginning but he follows his heart and looks for Annabeth. Meanwhile, Artemis also has gotten into trouble, so he and the other campers must go to also save her as well. The journey is a difficult one, with plot twists, and Percy has to make some important decisions that could either positively or negatively impact what could happen in the future.

The Titan’s Curse is an action-packed book with many points which suspend the reader, causing them to want to read more. There are moments of joy, sadness, satisfaction, suspense, thrill, and many more emotions the reader will definitely feel. The novel is easy to understand and imagine, and someone that has an interest in fantasy will definitely enjoy the book.

This novel would be rated as an 8.5/10 by me because although the plot is interesting and builds upon many Greek facts, there are points of redundancy throughout the book. This causes those parts of the book to become less interesting. However, this is only throughout the beginning of the novel, and the middle and end of the novel are appealing to the reader. All readers will definitely enjoy the book and will want to continue the series to find out what happens at the end.
