Shoeless Joe by W.P Kinsella (2/5)

“If you build it, he will come.” These words influence a small farmer from Iowa to put a baseball field in the middle of his corn field. In hope that his childhood hero Shoeless Joe Jackson shows up to play some ball though he's been dead for many years. Ray Kinsella goes on a cross country trip whose only direction are to listen to the voices in his head. My reaction to this book was it was memorable, and entertaining but only sections at a time. It kept me engaged for a good amount of time but at the same time it was pretty repetitive and got boring at times. The book suggests that if you're passionate about something and don't give up it will pay off for you. I think that the book eventually conveys that message but takes too long to do it. The author does a good job of leaving all the information in and doesn't skip around. Overall this was just not my type of book. It was too slow and just went on random side quests that were unnecessary for the overall message and ending of the book. My advice for readers is to just be patient and take the book one page at a time.
