George Lucas’s “Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope” starts a long-running franchise of Star Wars content and literature. This novel is a cross between science fiction and fantasy for people of all ages. The theme of this story is that hope is powerful even if it's overwhelmed because, with the fight between the Rebellion and the Empire, the Rebels are constantly on their toes trying to hide away from the Empire. Luke Skywalker, who was just an ordinary farm boy on a desert planet, picks up a few droids intending to help with the harvest. Unknown to Luke or his uncle, they are wanted by the Imperials because they are hiding very crucial information that could lead to the downfall of the Empire's biggest accomplishment. Reading this book was very interesting because you can tie it back to the movies and see how it compares with the attention to detail throughout the story. Even more so is how Lucas adds minute details that you don’t notice in the movies but you realize it after you read the book. This novel is especially entertaining because it has a compelling way of adding suspense to an action-packed story with constant character development throughout the story. I can agree with the writing style that Lucas portrays here as he splits the story between the life of Luke on Tatooine and the Empire on their space cruisers. I also agree with how much detail Lucas adds to the story without it feeling like a chore to read. George Lucas definitely has his own special way of spelling out a great story and he demonstrates that with this book. In relation to this, Peter Brown, who wrote “The Wild Robot” series which just became its own movie, has a perfect method of tying in specific details without making it too lengthy. Reading this narrative of Star Wars has changed the way I look at the story because of how different the story is from the book and how the characters are portrayed with how they act. For example, Darth Vader doesn’t seem as threatening, believe it or not. Yet again this story is about Luke’s travels from Tatooine all the way to fighting with the Rebellion against the Empire. Overall I think this is an amazing book and you should take some time to read through and get a changed perspective on the story.
