Survivors Club by Micheal and Debbie Bornstein (4/5)

In Survivors Club, Micheal and Debbie Bornstein use the theme of courage to tell the story of the author Michael who was a young Auschwitz prisoner during World War II. He was one of the thousands of children sent to the death camp and was among the fifty-two children under the age of eight to survive. When he was just four years old, the Nazis invaded his town of Zarki where he and his family jumped from place to place before arriving in Auschwitz. There, he got separated but was saved by his mother who hid him in the women’s barracks despite the dangers it brought. He was able to dodge death several times, one of those from a timely illness that would allow him to eventually be liberated from the Nazis. Overall, my reaction to the book was really devastated at how much suffering the Jews faced at the hands of the Nazis. This book affected me because his story really gives you a true depiction of what happened during the German invasion. I really recommend this book to all kinds of readers because the book suggests value to how lucky we are.
