The Hobbit An unexpected journey by J.R.R Tolkien (3/5)

In the Hobbit, a fictional book by J.R.R Tolkien, the protagonist, Bilbo Baggins agrees to join his companion Gandalf the Grey on a dangerous quest to help 7 dwarves get back a treasure they claim is rightfully theirs from a dragon named Smaug. Throughout the journey, Bilbo learns to get out of his comfort zone and become a brave hero to the friends he travels with. At the end of the book, Bilbo learns there is more to life than sitting in a hobbit hole waiting for life to pass. I think the overarching theme of the book was that you shouldn't wait for life to pass, instead you should take risks and have your own “adventures” sometimes. I think this book is well written and overall pretty decent. There were a few parts that were boring, but I mostly enjoyed reading them. I was really glad I was able to read this book but I don’t think I will be reading this again in a while.

I think the book could have been a bit more engaging and easier to read. I recommend reading this book if you like fantasy and adventure and if you do choose to read it keep going through the boring parts because it does get better.
