In The Maze Runner there is a place called the Glade surrounded by a maze. Thomas shows up in the box and has no memories like everyone else. The next day, Thomas learns about monsters in the maze called Grievers that always come out at night and that getting stung by them causes the Changing. Later, someone shows up in the box. It is strange because new people don’t show up two days in a row and they are a girl which never happened before. She has a note saying she will be the last person to show up, and she’s in a coma. Later, the doors to the maze are about to close. Thomas runs into the maze because two people, Alby and Minho, weren’t going to make it before the doors shut. They hear a Griever, and Minho runs away. Thomas ties Alby in them to keep him safe because he got stung. Thomas finds Minho again, and they make Grievers fall off the cliff. However, the Grievers disappear instead of falling. They survive the night in the maze. While Alby goes through the Changing, he tries to talk to Thomas because he sees him in the Changing but can't. Thomas goes to see the girl in a coma, and she talks to him in his mind. There is a gathering to decide what to do with Thomas because he broke rules and saved Alby. They decide he will become a runner but spend a day in jail. In the morning, Thomas hears the girl’s voice in his head saying she triggered the ending. Then, Thomas and Minho go into the maze and discover an invisible hole where Grievers go. They find out the girl, Teresa, woke up and she tells Thomas in his mind the maze is a code. That night the maze doors don’t close. Thomas gets stung to get memories from the Changing and learns that the maze has no solution, and they must go to the place where Grievers go to use the code from the maze. A bunch of people go into the maze, and they enter the code to escape. They end up with the creators of the maze, and Chuck, Thomas’s friend, dies. Then people help the kids escape from the Creators. I thought that the book was a good book and it was very engaging. I would recommend this book to others because it is very interesting and has an entertaining plot.
