Trials of Apollo by Rick Riordan (2/5)

The book, Trials of Apollo written by Rick Riordan was definitely an interesting book to say the least. The book follows the story of the Greek god Apollo who was casted down from Mount Olympus by Zeus to go live with mortals with the name Lester Papadopoulos. However his whole life flips around when he realizes that the camp which trains demigods is in danger due to the threat of a man who has a sinister plan to take over the world. Apollo learns to grow and train with other demigods at the camp while also learning the ways of what it is like to be mortal. I didn’t think the book was that good to be honest. There were many scenes that seemed a bit useless and kept dragging the book almost. It was exhausting and I almost gave up on the book while reading it. I wished I could have spent more time to somehow appreciate it. However, I felt a bit annoyed every time I had to read it, especially since I did not like the characters that much. Also there are many characters mentioned in the story and it is sometimes challenging for me to remember who is who which is a bit tiresome. Not to mention the girl character in the book in my opinion was so annoying, I could not stand her whining and rather impulsive decisions she would make to please others. The other characters were okay but I wish they could have branched out their personality a bit more because all of them truly seem like “cookie-cutter” characters in a way. There were only a few scenes I enjoyed but I never really liked it in the end. I thought the book could have had more time explaining who the new characters were instead of just focusing on the main two. It was nice to see an old favorite returning from one of the old books. I wouldn’t really recommend this book unless you are really set into reading the whole series. I thought I would enjoy it and I was extremely disappointed by the time I flipped to the last page.
