Sometimes reading other people's traumatic stories, become necessary for perspective. The author Nicole Maggie wrote this book from her friend's stories of sexual assault. This book discusses sensitive topics along that line, so if this triggers anyone, I wouldn't read it. The story starts off with our two main characters, Millie and Lise there's two main characters because the perspective changes in this book. The perspective we’re given is them writing in their own journals, and we get to read their thoughts and dive into their viewpoints. The story starts off with us following Millie, a girl who recently was a survivor of rape. It takes us along with her struggles to find justice and a safe household. Her childhood friend Lise tries to help her after not talking to her since they were in girl scouts together. This book was very interesting to me and I think it was a good read for the fact that I learned a lot about understanding the mental side of Millie's story. I enjoyed the change of viewpoint throughout the book, it keeps you more invested in the progression of their thoughts and friendship. The only reason I wouldn’t give this book a 5/5 is because the ending was a little rushed, I would’ve liked to see more of her life after. So overall, sensitive topics will be discussed in this book so if that is triggering or upsetting do not read it. I would give this book a 4/5. But I probably wouldn’t read it again.
