A good girl’s guide to murder by Holly Jackson is the #1 New York Times bestseller mystery book. The book contains 387 pages with the sequel of the next book “Good girl, bad blood” that was published in 2019. The theme of the book is friendship as the main character, Pippa Fitz-Amobi is conflicted in ruining hers and others to understand what really happened when high school senior Andie Bell was murdered by the hands of her boyfriend Sal Singh which then killed himself. 5 years later Pippa Fitz-Amobi is a senior who decides to look over the murder for her final school project as the deaths of Andie Bell and Sal Singh still affect her town. A good girl’s guide to murder is a very intriguing book because as Pippa Fitz-Amobi is trying to solve a murder by looking through information from those closest to Andie Bell and Sal Singh you learn interesting information about each of them. As the book progresses and Pippa gets more leads I would piece together the information as I read to make the big final guess of who did what and why. There are moments that catch you by surprise and the plot twist is amazing and in the end, you learn the whole truth. The way Holly Jackson wrote this book is phenomenal because the mystery and the suspense it carries throughout the book is amazing and it has a lot of twists and surprising moments, I agree with the outcome of the murder case and it makes sense. This book raises the suggestion that you have to do what is right even if it means it has an impact on those closest to you, “Her and her story. The telling of it was almost as hard as the living of it”(Jackson 358). The story is about discovering what really happened 5 years in the town of Fairview between Andie bell and Sal Singh but in the end, it’s really about doing the right thing which is what Pippa did even though it affected those closest to her.
