A Good Girls Guide to Murder -Holly Jackson(5/5)

A Good Girls Guide to Murder, how can good girl have a guide to murder? Well Holly Jackson shows us how by following the life of a young girl in her senior year of high-school named Pippa Fitz-Amobi. At Pippa's school, a senior project is required, research and report on a topic of choosing. Pippa chose to report on a case from years back in her hometown. Andi Bell, a young girl who went missing and was never found. As the book transpires, a lot of new suspects and alibis become prevalent and Pippa falls deeper into the case. Working over time, taking risks to find information out and practically threatening her life were boulders she faced. Readers are taken on a journey with Pippa and can become just as invested as her. This book takes tons of unexpected twists and turners that keep readers on our toes. I was enthralled with Jackson's writing abilities. She kept the book intriguing the whole time and never had a slow moment. She also incorporated relatability for young adults to Pippa which I enjoyed and further kept me interested. Pippa was depicted as a driven, focused, and strong teenager who was trying to navigate life and I felt a connection to her character as many probably can. The descriptive imagery Jackson used made me truly get lost in the book and continued to have me flipping to the next page. There was no sugar coating being done throughout this story and was very open about all the occurrences that transpired in Andi Bell's death. This is a book that I could read a second time and still have jaw dropping moments. When reading this book, make it a guessing game for yourself, see if you can guess who the murder was throughout the book, for me that added a interactive element which made me more interested. This mystery book doesn’t meet expectations and in fact diminishes them all, leaving your hands turning the page every time. Be ready for this book to consume a lot of your time.
