A Semi-Definitive List of Worst Nightmares by Krystal Sutherland 4.5/5

Do you ever feel like you are the only one with silly irrational fears? The main character of A Semi-Definitive List of Worst Nightmares Esther has a list of irrational fears that surprisingly are protecting her from death. Esther’s grandfather was cursed by Death, in which everyone in her family is condemned to suffer one great fear. As she’s watched her mother, father, and brother become consumed by the curse she has prepared a list of fears to save herself from being haunted by one great fear. When Esther rehashes things with an old friend they work together to solve the curse. This book was very enjoyable because it is an unprecedented plot with many unexpected twists. The plot is very unique with the shifts in characters’ perspectives, growth in characters, and beginnings of new relationships. Overall, the book plot is a refreshing and interesting blend of two stories. I would highly recommend this book for young teens trying to figure out who they are.
