Angels & Demons by Dan Brown (4/5)

Updated: Dec 2, 2022

Getting faxed an image of a dead body is an interesting way to get someone’s attention. Professor Langdon, who studies historical and religious symbols, gets a phone call asking for his help in a murder case, the body is emblazoned with the symbol of the Illuminati on it. He’s flown to Switzerland to the lab where the murder took place and examined the body to try and determine whether the Illuminati was responsible or if they may still be active. They are. He ends up running around Europe trying to uncover the secrets of the Illuminati while simultaneously trying to stop an atomic bomb from setting off that could destroy a majority of the Vatican.

My personal opinion of the book is that it is very good and has an interesting plot; however, it’s very clearly written by a man. Based on the way women are written in this book, it's extremely obvious and adds nothing to the plot. It doesn't take away from it either, so at least there’s that.

Overall, it’s a good book. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it but I wouldn't discourage someone from reading it either. It’s a long book with very short chapters so you can break it up into small reading periods which I enjoyed.
