Animal Farm covered the topic of idealism. It used animals and their ideas to teach a lesson in balance and having realistic expectations. The farm animals were being treated poorly and felt that they would be better off ruling themselves. The book goes on to show the pros and cons of this decision to rebel against the farmer, Mr. Jones, and if doing so was worth all the responsibilities put on them. I was really impressed with the way the author incorporated a deep meaning into a light, easy read. The setting and characters made the book very entertaining, and helped me to easily understand the message that the author was trying to convey. Orwell is reflecting his opinions on our society through his writing. Just like the farm animals, we humans are trying to figure out a way to rule ourselves. I agree with his viewpoint because no matter who is making decisions or how hard we try to create equality, there is always something missing. To this day, we still haven't found the perfect way of ruling. If you are looking for an easy book that will keep you engaged, I definitely recommend reading Animal Farm. If you enjoyed the book Wonder and the way Auggie creates his own “perfect” world and his longing for equality, then I think you will find this book interesting too. You will be surprised how a small farm in a small town can give you insight into a bigger, world issue.
