Call Me by Your Name by André Aciman is a romance novel that takes place on the coast of Italy during the summer months. This novel follows Elio and Oliver, two teenage boys whose love for each other develops throughout the book. The author illustrates Elio´s perspective on Oliver and demonstrates how their differences ultimately help them realize that they have a deeper connection.
While reading this book, it was difficult to be captivated by it at first, but it ultimately became more interesting as the novel went on. Although I enjoyed most parts of this book, I could not relate to it as much as I could with other novels, but the way the author conveys the ideas and plot was interesting to read. The way the author describes the romance between the two boys is very fascinating and powerful.
This novel showed me how romance and emotion do not have to be said, rather just conveyed in other ways. The emotional aspect is something some people may not fully understand in the sense the author intended, but the right audience will be able to connect with the read and share a connection to it.
