Catching Fire is the second book in the Hunger Games. After Katniss and Peeta are the last two in the games, they decide to both commit suicide, as a statement to the Capitol. In a moment of panic, the Capitol declared both winners of the Hunger Games before they were able to follow through. After the games, Peeta learns that the love that Katniss showed for him was fake and their relationship becomes distant and cold. Despite this, they are forced to become engaged by President Snow to satisfy the viewers in the Capitol. A few months after the games, Katniss and Peeta embark on the victory tour taking them to the districts of the other tribute who were killed. After the tour, Katniss learns of the riots happening in other districts due to her public act of defiance during the games. Shortly after, the rules for the Quarter Quell, a special edition of the Hunger Games, are announced. The tributes will be chosen through the past winners, and as the only female winner in her district, Katniss will be going back into the Games. Peeta is chosen for the male tribute and they make their way to the capital where they train and make allies. In the Games, they create an alliance with other tributes and formulate a plan to win which eventually turns to chaos as the games are crashed by rebel forces leaving Katniss to learn shocking news about the state of the riots in the districts as well as her the people she left behind. This book was very engaging and I enjoyed the plot twists. The book built off of the story in the first book well and also left me excited to read the next book in the trilogy. The storyline was detailed and captivating and many of the characters in the book showed amazing character development. All in all, the book was a really entertaining read and I would highly recommend it to future readers.
