Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins (5/5)

catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. Catching Fire is part of the popular series called the “Hunger Games”. The books are seen as apocalyptic and adventure fiction. There are many themes in the book but the main ones you'll see are courage, sacrifice, cooperation, and lastly compassion.

The author Suzanne Collins writes an intriguing and plot-twisting book that makes the reader question what's to come next. The main character Katniss is being closely watched by the capital. She can't decide who she loves, (Peeta or Gale) which leaves her in a tough situation. Additionally, the districts are rising and the capital is trying to hold them in place.

The book is very interesting and doesn’t let you not know what's coming next. The characters don't know if a decision made is good or may lead to a bad situation. One of the many authors who have stated their opinions about the book is Stephenie Meyer who is best known for writing the Twilight Saga. She states,” I just lay in bed wide awake thinking about. . . . The Hunger Games is amazing” I agree with this because I was also spending my nights reading the book wanting to see what comes next and to see how the characters are going to develop throughout the book. But one of the Authors who I have to disagree with is Stephen King whose most popular book is The Shining. He claims, “I couldn’t stop reading.” I have to disagree with this because the book has a couple of sections that are not as interesting which makes you lose some interest. The problem seen in the book is the fight between the rich and the poor. We can see this throughout every book in the Hunger Games series. For example, all the districts from two to eleven have hard-working jobs and the people inside are poor, while the capital does not do any work and they waste food for the fun of it. Additionally, District One makes luxury items for the capital, which makes them favorable to the capital. One of the matters the book leaves out is the stories of people's lives in the district. The author never goes into depth about people's lives within the districts.

The book was very plot-twisting. The book covers many issues which include war and poverty within the districts and how people who complain at first may revolt against the main power. For future readers who wish to read these books, I recommend they read the books in order because if they don't they will not know the full storyline. The book is very friendly to all readers so I hope they do decide to read these books.
