City of the Beasts by Isabel Allende (2/5)

City of The Beasts is a story that tells the adventures of a city boy named Alex and his encounters in the Amazon Rainforest. Alex is dragged by his demanding and independent grandmother on a journey to discover a mysterious beast that lives in the dense rainforest. Along the way, Alex meets new people and sees things he has never seen before in his life.

I didn’t enjoy this book because the plot seemed to meander nowhere with no twists and turns or colorful descriptions to tell the tale of compelling events to build on what should’ve been an exciting adventure. The novel had many parts where the narrative just kind of rambled with no point made. Maybe it’s just me but I expect my adventure stories to be more “adventurous.” I don’t recommend this book because, sadly, the book is just boring.
