Stephen King has written many incredible books, and The Dark Tower I: The Gunslinger is one example of these books. This book takes place in a place called “Mid-World,” and follows the gunslinger. It is a very disturbing, very dangerous post-apocalyptic world with a water and food shortage in most places described in the book. The main character of this story, the gunslinger, is traveling around the post- apocalyptic land of “Mid-World.” He is chasing after a man called “the man in black,” and he has been slowly getting closer to catching him since he started following him. As he travels across the massive desert, he encounters a few places, including a small home where one person lives, and a town. At the small home in the middle of the desert, he meets the man living there and suspects that he may be a trap set by the man in black to kill the gunslinger. The town he encounters is very run down. In this town, he finds out that the man in black had passed through a few weeks ago. He also finds out about a man who had died just before the man in black passed through, and the dead man had been brought back to life. Overall, this book had a very interesting world and story. I enjoyed reading it, but it was very confusing sometimes and I didn’t fully understand what was happening at certain points of the book. I would rate it a four out of five because it was a good book, but there were some parts that were confusing and they weren’t explained, but they may get explained in later books in the series. I would recommend this book to anybody who likes post-apocalyptic novels and anyone who enjoys reading more serious and mature stories.
