Daughter of the Pirate King 4.5/5

“I hate having to dress like a man” (Levenseller, 1). Tricia Levensellers novel, Daughter of the Pirate King, was a thrilling romance book that takes place on a pirate ship. Alosa, the main character, is the daughter of the feared Pirate King. Her father sent her on a mission to retrieve a valuable map that leads to great treasure but along the way Alosa finds something else. Riden is the first mate and the captain's brother on the ship that captures Alosa and he was put incharge of taking care of her after she was caught sneaking out of her cell. The whole premise of needing to find something and needing to impress her father kept Alosa going even while others may have been pointing out flaws in her father. Levenseller uses suspense to set the tone of her novel in a genius way. She has big fight scenes that don't end when the chapter ends and the whole book ends on a cliffhanger making it and its sequel impossible to put down. Overall, Tricia Levensellers, Daughter of the Pirate King, has a clever story and beautiful writing. If you love anything to do with pirates or romance, this is the book for you!
