This is the second book in the series based off of Dungeons and Dragons, and it starts out in the mountain dwarves’ cavern in the Kharolis Mountains. The group, consisting of a half-elf named Tanis, a mage named Raistlin, a knight named Sturm, a dwarf named Flint, a kender named Tasslehoff, two elves named Riverwind and Laurana, as well as a few others. The group is split up after traveling to, and then being forced to flee the city of Tarsis, with one group heading to Silvanesti, and the other group sailing to the Ice Wall. Both groups were searching for powerful magic weapons to use against the dragon highlords who have begun destroying and conquering towns and cities. When the first group reached Silvanesti, they were put under a spell and had to fight to break it. Once the spell was broken, the group was able to make their way to the tower in Silvanesti where they were told the magic weapon was. Meanwhile the group at the Ice Wall retrieved a weapon from a dead knight trapped in ice as well as another weapon similar to the one in Silvanesti. Soon after, they ended up captured by elves who took the weapons that they didn’t know how to use with the intent of stopping the dragon highlords. They escape and travel to Solamnia, and then to the Tower of the High Clerist, where the final battle of this book takes place.
I enjoyed reading this book, and it kept me interested while I read. It was easy to read and the story was interesting. I was not really expecting the ending, so I was a little bit surprised. Overall, it was enjoyable and it kept my attention. It was a good sequel to the first book, Dragons of Autumn Twilight, and it seems to be leading up to something big in the future books.
Since this is the second book in the series, readers should read the first book before reading this. The book was interesting and entertaining, and I think anyone who likes fantasy books or Dungeons and Dragons would enjoy this book.
