Dry (5/5)

Written by Jarrod and Neal Shusterman, Dry is a suspenseful and thrilling science fiction novel. In this distressing tale of survival, 16-year-old Alyssa Morrow is forced to make life-or-death decisions for her family as the California drought reaches catastrophic proportions. The drought—or the “Tap Out”, as everyone refers to it—has brought a long list of things not to do: don’t take long showers, don’t water the lawn, don’t fill your swimming pool, and don’t even consider having a water balloon fight. But of course, nobody gave these rules much thought—that is, until the water supply finally ran out. Alyssa’s suburban streets deteriorated into a war zone of despair, with neighbors and families turning against one another in search of water. When her parents disappeared in search of water, Alyssa had to take risks to survive in a story full of plot twists. I really enjoyed this book, as well as other works by Neal Shusterman including the Arc of a Scythe book series, and highly recommend his books to anyone interested in science fiction novels. The length of this book is the only drawback at almost 400 pages. Overall, I would give this book a 5/5.
