The apocalyptic novel, Dune by Frank Herbert is a story of adventure and social politics. Dune takes place in space and it is all about control and power. In the story, there are two warring houses and they are, house Atreides and house Harkonnen and they both want control over Arakkis because it contains valuable spices that can bring them great wealth. I believe that this is a very interesting read because of how it relates to the real world and how their society is similar to our society. I agree with how the author sets up the story by switching between the heroes and the villains of the story in the first two chapters. However, I disagree with the fact that within the first 100 pages there is little to no action. Another issue with the story is that I feel they focus more on the plot and less on character development. This book really reminds me of our world today and it shows how greedy people are and how mean and deceiving people are. This book really teaches you a lesson and shows you to be kind to everyone. Overall this book was very interesting and I definitely recommend it. Might advice to future readers is to really analyze the text because there is so much hidden behind all of the basic text.
