Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon (5/5)

My novel Everything Everything follows the journey of 18-year-old girl Madeline Whittier who has a disease called “Bubble baby disease”. Her disease causes her to be unable to leave her house and unable for anything or anyone to come in without being thoroughly sterilized and cautioned. But when new neighbors move into the house next door she meets a boy named Olly, he is a polar opposite of Madeline with his dark clothes and solemn expression. They first communicate through signs at their windows but move on to online chatting, sharing their love for books, movies, and opinions on every topic under the sun. His adventurous spirit causes her to make new discoveries and dangerous decisions that leave her questioning everything that she has ever been told about herself.

I thought this book was one of the best pieces of YA literature I have read. The twists, turns, unanswered questions, and relationships between the characters will have you on the edge of your seat the entire read. The plot twist at the end of the novel will leave your head spinning, and the themes will cause you to appreciate the little things in life, show how adventure can change the way you see the world around you, and explore tough decisions about living life safely, or enjoying it while you still can. There are many beautifully crafted, realistic, and complex characters in the novel that truly make it come to life. As well as the perfectly put together plot and storyline that doesn’t rush, but does not contain a single filler word or sentence. Each page adds even more plot, detail, and information to the story making it short in pages but rich in plot.

Overall, this book is most definitely a page-turner, between the new discoveries, betrayal, young love, and dangerous adventures, this book is one that you will not want to put down. It dives into topics of sickness, loneliness, and choosing between safety and enjoying life. If you like complex characters and relationships, a very detailed plot and many twists and turns, and an ending with a gut-wrenching surprise, I'm sure you will love the novel Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon.
