Fablehaven by Brandon Mull (4/5)

Fablehaven is a young-adult fantasy book which stars two siblings named Kendra and Seth. It takes place at their grandparents, who they do not know well, house which is secretly a refuge for mythical creatures called Fablehaven. These mystical creatures can not be seen by the naked eye. Once you drink a special potion you are suddenly thrown into a world that is so different from Earth yet it is so much the same. Kendra and Seth, while on their visit, get curious and end up drinking the potion. This causes them to stumble into having to protect their family from the crazy creatures while still making sure no one knows about Fablehaven. Will they be able to protect not only their family but the entire world? My initial reaction to the book was that it was a perfect book for someone who enjoys a good fantasy book. If you enjoy reading books that can take you out of the real world when you are reading it then this is the book for you. I wouldn’t say it was the best book I have read since it is just a pretty basic idea with the mythical creatures in a different land. After reading it I felt as though I read a book that I have already read before. This also might just be me since I have read a good amount of fantasy books. Although It was still a great read, I feel as though if I had read it as a kid it would’ve been the perfect book. Overall, Fablehave

n is a good read and I do not regret reading it. I would recommend to readers that if you are okay with an almost childish mythical creature book to read it. If you are into a really well put together and thought out book with a deep and unique plot I would not recommend this book to you. All in all this is a decent book that was not really groundbreaking although still a good read.
