Forever After by Roger Zelazny(5/5)

Forever After by Roger Zelazny and Others is a story based off of a question many readers ask themselves wh

en they finish a book while simultaneously explaining the reason for heroes going on quests. It explains that after heroes win against evil, the artifact they quest for harm the fabric of space and time. Because of this, heros must separate them in secure locations so they aren’t found by the wrong people. The book begins as the heroes are about to go and return the artifacts they found. The king has won and his marriage is planned. As the heroes go on their quests, different authors write the experiences of the heroes from their perspective. During the book, a plot to take over the kingdom in the absence of the artifacts. The heroes must defeat the secret villain before the villain latkes over the kingdom, without many of the artifacts. I enjoyed the book because of the humor as well as the variety of writing styles that are included. The books is short yet cover many  things in it as well. It is almost a collection of short stories that come together, tied by Zelaznys “preludes” that slowly reval the plot at the capital while the heroes are away. Each part is short enough that you can read in in short increments but it is long enough that you can become lost in it as you read it. Additionally the writing style shift causes the book’s humor to change so you aren’t tired of the same thing being overly repeated. If you don’t enjoy an authors style, just 50 pages and a new writer is now writing the story. As a book that has so many styles, can be read in increments or all at once, and is so well written. I would say it is one of the best books I have ever read. One recommendation I would give would be to keep track of names. There are so many that it is easy to forget some if you aren’t careful and each character has their own unique personality that gievs you better experience when you do.
