Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling (4/5)

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is a novel written by J.K Rowling that follows the adventures of Harry Potter on his quest into the Chamber of Secrets.

The book starts out with Harry Potter at the Dursleys house during the summer. During the summer in his room, he hasn’t been receiving any letters from his Hogwarts friends. He then meets Dobby, his own personal house elf, who he found was responsible for holding the letters himself. Dobby says it is dangerous for Harry to go to Hogwarts. Ron, one of Harry’s friends, and his two brothers, rescue Harry from his room in a flying car and take him to Hogwarts.

At Hogwarts, Harry was hearing strange voices inside the walls. They later found Mr. Filch's cat petrified in one of the halls, with a message saying, “The Chamber of Secrets has been opened. Enemies of the Heir… beware”. Harry spoke in snake during a duel with Malfoy, his enemy, so everyone thought he was the heir.Harry and his friends did more work on discovering the secret of the Chamber of Secrets, and Hermione was petrified during their investigations. Ginny, Ron’s sister, was taken to the Chamber of Secrets, and Harry discovered the way to the Chamber through hard work and determination. He met Tom Riddle in the Chamber, who turned out to be the heir of Slytherin, Lord Voldemort. The monster inside the Chamber was a snake, more specifically a Basilisk, which Harry took out with the Sword of Gryffindor. Tom Riddle was killed, the petrified victims came back to life, and life was back in order for Harry and Hogwarts.

I personally thought that this was a very interesting book, one that I would definitely recommend anyone to read. I thought it was a good book to read after reading the first one, because you get to learn more about Harry and the rest of the characters, as well as meet new ones. This novel always left me on the edge of my seat and it did not disappoint. I also think that we can learn from Harry, as no one liked him because they thought he was the heir to Slytherin, but he fought through this discrimination and saved the school and everyone in it.

I highly recommend any book reader, whether they’re a beginner or experienced, to dive into this book and experience the wonders of Harry Potter and the adventures he goes through.
