Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling (5/5)

Harry Potter, the novel about wizards, magic, and dragons, is a captivating read that showcases a trial between good and evil. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, by J. K. Rowling, was published in 1998. It is the first novel of a six-long fantasy book series.

A boy named Harry Potter is living a difficult life at his cruel aunt and uncle’s house due to the unfortunate passing of his parents when he was young. One day by surprise, Harry receives a letter in the mail inviting him to go to Hogwarts School, a magic school for wizards and witches. Harry learns about his emotional past and meets two good friends Hermione and Ron. They come together with the help of friends and mentors to try to defeat the evil Voldemort as first-year students in their new school. The kids were challenged to step up and make sacrifices to help save their world.

I personally thought Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone was an exhilarating fiction book to read. It was the perfect length, not too long or too short. It kept me captivated and on the edge of my seat because of the choices that lay in front of them. This suspenseful novel is the kind that is hard to put down. One easily becomes attached to the characters - wanting them to stay safe and win against their competition. Because of the rising suspense and fun times with magic and teamwork, I would definitely recommend this book to someone who has not read it before.
