This domestic fiction book was written by Erika L. Sánchez. This book portrays that not every Mexican daughter is perfect and to not push us cause we will be further apart. Julia is the narrator, She is a 15-year-old junior in high school, Julia and her family go through a sad phase and Julia gets depressed and starts blaming herself for the destruction of her family. Her parents are sad and don’t know what to do. Their lives have changed and they are in shock. Julia then visits her family in Mexico and they adore her. She likes the attention because she has never felt this kind of way. I liked this book because it was such a good book. It makes you want to keep reading and never let the book down until you finish. It’s so well worded and also funny. It is very relatable if you're Mexican or you were raised in a Hispanic household. I definitely recommend you read this because you will feel better about your relationships with your parents if it's not so good. It will also teach you to be patient and that you don’t know your parent's past and what they have gone through. we will never know why parents do what they do but just know that they are trying to protect you.
