It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover was by far one of the best books I have ever read. It summarizes, heartbreak, coming of age, being a teenage girl all in one novel. It Ends With Us follows a girl named Lily Bloom who lives in Boston and has big dreams of opening up a flower store. Although she finds herself meeting a new love and revisiting an old one too. In the beginning of the book it starts off by telling the readers about her fathers funeral and how much she had despised him as a dad. Lily's father was abusive towards Lilys mother her whole life, but Lily's mother never wanted to leave him because her father was the mayor and put a great picture for their family. Lily did not have one single thing she liked about her father because he was never a great role model or a great human being. Although as the day of her fathers funeral gets longer and longer she finds herself in a random apartment building romanticizing over the great view of the terrace. Suddenly a man named Ryle approaches the terrace and starts smoking weed. Lily notices how handsome this young man is and starts to make conversation. They start telling naked truths and some chemistry is forming amongst them. But Ryle gets paged into the hospital because he is a neurosurgeon. It left Lily with a good conversation even though she knew she was never going to see that man again or so she thought. As Lily goes into her apartment that night she stumbled upon her old journal entries from when she was in highschool. She started reading them and almost all of them mentioned a man named Atlas who was homeless and stayed in the house next door which had no working electricity, water, food etc. Lily was the first ever kind person to Atlas; she gave him food, showers and even gave him her dad's old clothes. They spent so much time together whether it was watching Ellen Degenerous, eating snacks, taking care of Atlas when he had a cold that Lily had started to have feelings for Atlas. Atlas started to sleep in her room at night and leave early in the morning due to the heating Lily had. in her room. They ended up falling in love but then Atlas came to stay with his uncle in Boston and Lily was heartbroken. But she got over it and moved on with her life. As Lily was finally opening up her dream job as a florist with her own shop she came upon a girl named Alyssa who wanted to help her with the business. She and Alyssa were becoming best friends and one day Alyssa's brother and husband came into the shop and you would never believe who her brother was. It was no one other than Ryle. Lily and Ryle started dating shortly and they had their honeymoon period of being so head over heels for one another until it got ugly. One night Ryle was so angry at Lily he hit her. This put Lily in a very tough position because it gave her horrible flashbacks as a kid. But Lily knew Ryle was very sorry by the look in his eyes that she forgave him. The next night she went out to dinner with Ryle, Alyssa, and her husband. As the chef came upon their table Lily noticed something oddly familiar with the chef. It took her a minute but it was Atlas and Atlas knew it was Lily too. But even though she still loved Atlas so much she did not want to ruin her future with Ryle over an old flame. So she stays with Ryle and wished Atlas good luck in the future. This book was honestly the best book I have ever read. It captured every girl's feelings all in one book and I would recommend it to anyone. Although this book has some mature content and only read if you can handle the maturity of this book. This novel has definitely impacted my life and I had never wanted to put the book down as I was reading because it was so endlessly amazing.
