Originally published in two parts in 1868 and 1869, Little Women, written by Louisa May Alcott, is now regarded as a treasured American classic. The novel follows the story of the four March sisters, based on Alcott’s own life. The girls, Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy, each with their own character, are trying to navigate their way through life and coming of age while dealing with loss, love, envy, and yearning. One of my all-time favorite books; I would recommend this novel to anyone interested in classics, young adult literature, or just in need of a good read. The author’s ability to transport you into the past, to feel as though you are witnessing the story unfold in real-time, is admirable, especially considering the story’s setting is 1860’s New England. For anyone looking to spend some time reading, I urge you to consider this book well worth reading.
