Escaping to Italy for the summer, surrounded by an enchanting atmosphere, eating decadent food, what more could a girl possibly want!? After discovering her mother’s journal, Lina struggles to enjoy her time in Italy while trying to uncover the secrets of her mother and the most burning question of them all, who her father is. The reader follows Lina and her new best friend, Ren, on their adventures as they dive deeper into the journal. The author uses vivid imagery to paint a picture of the scenes in the reader’s head which transports them into this world filled with romance and secrecy. Personally, this book was okay. I'm just sick of the basic best friends to enemies to lovers plot. I feel as if most authors try to tie in a romantic interest but not every book needs to have a romantic aspect. The story was good enough as is and the romance ruined the whole plot. The main theme this book communicates is to have faith in yourself and others, by having faith Lina uncovers her true self along with her friends, which helps them as they work together to help Lina overcome her hardships. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn or read more about the power of faithfulness and friendship.
