How I Play, Kobe Bryant describes his hardships and what it means to have “mamba mentality.” Kobe was Born in Philadelphia but spent some of his childhood years in Italy, he lived with his mom, dad, and his two sisters. He was a young star and didn't even go to college before he was drafted in 1997, on draft night he got signed to the Charlotte Hornets and on the same night traded to the famous Los Angeles Lakers. Kobe was loyal to his team and fanbase and stuck with the Lakers for all 20 years of his amazing basketball career. He won the dunk contest in 1997, 5 championships, 4 most valuable player awards, had 2 scoring titles, and countless more incredible titles and records. Kobe became one of the best basketball players and most of his success was thanks to his mentality. "Mamba mentality” refers to how black mamba’s strike fast and with precision never giving up until it has won and that’s exactly what Kobe did. He didn’t care about anything but winning and that’s what led him to being so successful. Although his career ended in 2016, he still made an enormous impact on the world inspiring kids to strive for greatness and make the world a better place. He has been in many popular TV shows and movies and even made his own short story that won him an Academy Award.
In addition, I personally loved reading about this moment and the book as a whole taught me a lot about Kobe. I’ve played basketball all my life and I think his mentality is a powerful tool in the woodworking that is basketball. I learned from his teaching to never give up, be disciplined, hard-working, and most importantly push myself to my furthest limit will help me become an amazing athlete.
In summary, this book wasn't too hard of a read and I would heavily recommend it for anyone that loves sports or just needs some motivation. Your mental health is something that can either positively or negatively affect the way you think, act, feel, etc. If anyone were to want to improve their mental strength this book is amazing and can change the way they go about facing their most difficult challenges in life
