You wake up at 8:00, have your morning cup of coffee, and then find out your dad is actually a god. Well, this is precisely what led to Percy Jackson’s life is turned upside down. Percy Jackson is a 12-year-old, who discovers his biological father is Poseidon (the Greek god of the sea). Percy must learn to protect himself, as his father’s enemies will not rest easy, while also dealing with the accusation of stealing Zeus’ lightning bolt. Percy travels with his friends on a journey across the nation to find the lightning bolt, while also learning more about the gods. Percy soon realizes he has been caught up in a conspiracy and has to battle multiple gods and demons, in order to prove his innocence and save his mother from his uncle (Hades). Percy Jackson & The Olympians is a fantasy series written by Rick Riordan. Published in 2005, the book continues to entertain young adults for over a decade. The book manages to successfully incorporate greek mythology with humor and action. Leaving you with no dull moments, as you are bombarded with interesting stories from greek mythology and slapstick jokes that are bound to make you laugh. I can recommend this book with ease to anyone who wants to try out a new fictional genre. This book met all the requirements necessary to make a book memorable and unforgettable, as I often find myself coming back to this book, every few months.
