Six of Crows (4/5)

By Leigh Bardugo

What would you do for unimaginable wealth? In the book, Six of Crows, Leigh Bardugo builds a world where magic is real and only the sturdiest of criminals survive the thrashings of the “barrel.” However, for Kaz and his crew, the “barrel” isn’t their main concern, in fact, the same “barrel” which could only be described as “hell,” is the most peaceful place they will ever experience. For this crew of misfits and convicts, the most dangerous mission awaits them in the heart of an impenetrable fortress, where they attempt to kidnap a scientist for money! For me personally, this book was definitely a worthwhile read as all of the characters have very unique personalities. I feel that Bardugo did a fantastic job creating relatable characters, imagery, and plot. Something I feel can be improved throughout the story is the amount of repetition and use of unrelated characters in the book. Overall, this book was a great read with many eventful highs and lows and I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is into fantasy and young adult fiction.
