Stories and Sutras: Timeless Legends. Priceless Lessons. by Virat Chirania, 5/5

The book “Stories and Sutras. Timeless Legends. Priceless Lessons.” by Virat Chrania was one of the best books I’ve ever read. I personally enjoyed Stories and Sutras cause it really went into depth about all the stories I heard as a kid. It's mostly fairy tale, religious Indian stories so as an Indian it is also vital we keep these stories heard through all our generations.

The book could be considered old fashioned compared to the stuff we have today like Tiktok, Instagram, and other social media platforms but it's definitely worth a read. First of all, the stories are very engrossing and entertaining but also informational and enlightening. I say “stories" but it could be also thought of as ancient wisdom passed on from people who lived in a time without modern technology. It's as if your grandma tells you stories about her childhood, and at first, you're confused, ”Why do I care?” But then you realize there’s so much to learn from the experiences. “Stories and Sutras” is very similar but on a bigger scale.

What's awesome about the stories is that they’re not like boring history lessons. They’re packed with amazing life lessons that are still important and are being used today. It’s crazy to think that people from thousands of years ago had similar struggles and questions we do now. It's as if there's a time machine and we are being teleported to different worlds and times, but are still learning stuff that is very relevant to our everyday lives.

In the chapter, “The Lost Compass”, there is a young adventurer named Alex who gets lost in the forest while searching for the hidden treasure. Scared and disoriented because it's becoming late, Alex stumbles upon a sage who offers guidance. However, instead of giving him directions. The sage gives Alex a compass, telling him to follow his inner wisdom and gut. Confused at first, Alex soon realizes that the compass is not pointing to North but to his heart. Alex learns that sometimes the answers we seek are within ourselves. The chapter emphasizes the importance of self-trust and intuition in navigating life challenges. This teaching shows us we possess the power to find our own way even when we feel lost.

The chapters are short and a medium read, which I liked because it made it easy to read a bit each day. Whenever you read a chapter you will get a feeling of inspiration to learn something new and do better at what you're doing. Vikram also made it so that reading the book doesn't feel like a chore or an assignment. It's more like having a wise friend telling you stories and helping you grow. Instead of having to find the lesson in every chapter, he gives it to you and gives you tips and examples which gives you more time to understand and view the different point of view.

In conclusion, if you're addicted to social media, or a technology hater, “Stories and Sutras” is a fantastic book to pick up anyway. It's a roller coaster of emotions, a teacher, and a friend all smashed in one. Give it a try, and the results will astonish you about yourself and the world. As a tip if you read the book, read one chapter fully then read it again to find the idea Vikram has.
