Sunshine, By Jarrett J. Krosoczka, Was a really good read. It was a story about a boy named Jarrett, who went on a trip with some of his fellow classmates to a place called Camp Sunshine. Camp Sunshine is a camp for terminally ill children so that they can have fun and get to be kids as well during their summer, and get the summer camp experience, without having to be excluded from activities because of their conditions like they would at a normal summer camp. While Jarrett believed that the camp would be full of sadness and depression, he found it was exactly the opposite. The kids were full of life and enjoyed every moment as much as they could. Jarrett really enjoyed his time at camp, which I found utterly surprising because having read the first book in the series, there was a drastic difference between his attitude in that book and his attitude in this one. I really enjoyed this book because of the creative art styles and the dialogue. The art style is a big part of the child-like atmosphere of the story. Another good thing was that it was a sequel to the first book, Hey Kiddo, and it followed up really well and showed interesting character development from the main character. This book is a tale of hopes and dreams, and in some ways it illustrates the magic and whimsy of childhood, because of the way that even though these kids are critically ill, they still make the best of each moment while spending their time at Camp Sunshine. I would genuinely recommend this book to anyone who wants to have a genuine, fun read, or even anyone who just wants to read a meaningful book without worrying about thousands of words per page, in case it is too much. This book isn't overwhelmingly long, but it also isn’t too short. I would give this book a four out of five, just because it wasn’t one of the BEST books i've ever read, but it was a very meaningful and pleasant read in my opinion.
