Symptoms of A Heartbreak by Sona Charaipotra (4/5)

The book called Symptoms of a Heartbreak is about a sixteen-year-old girl named Saira, that is a doctor starting her first day of working at a hospital. She is working with young people that have cancer and she tries to cure them with medication and helps with surgery. There was this one boy named Link and Saira met him in the elevator when she was having her first day working at her job. Link thought Saira had cancer since the only people who are there have cancer or they are doctors. They became close until he realized Saira wasn’t a cancer kid but a young doctor. Link was sad that Saira didn't tell him the truth, that she was a doctor and not a patient. Link's health started to decay and Saira helped him with his dream by competing in a show and he made it in. They started to fall in love even though she is not allowed to catch feeling with any of her patients. Link needed a donor and since he won the competition for the show, Saira made a video to tell the viewers he needed a donor for his cancer so he can keep moving on through the competition. Link got a donor and his health improved after that once he got out of the hospital, he can love Saira as much as he wants, without getting Saira fired since he wasn't a patient anymore. I really enjoyed this book, it was interesting that Saira was a very young doctor that fell in love with a cancer kid even though she couldn't love her patients. Throughout the times they get caught with each other in the hospital, the boss was about to fire Saira but knew she was a good person and how she really improved the hospital. I would recommend this book to whoever loves teen romance and overall, the book had lots of details about the people around Saira and Saira herself. This book also talks about Indian culture which was really interesting since Saira's grandma makes different kinds of food and they also say what it is in India.
