Lauren Asher’s Terms and Conditions Is a love story between almost complete opposites. The two lovers, Iris and Declan are brought together through work. Declan is the grandson of the creator of Dreamland, a multi- billion dollar chain of theme parks. His mother died of cancer which has pained him for years turning him into a closed off workaholic. Declan is trying to take his nefarious father’s place as CEO. However, Declan can’t snatch his rightful place as CEO without his inheritance, which isn’t granted to him unless he has a wife and a child, or in other words; a family. Iris, on the other hand, grew up with a single mom. Her dad left when she was young after traumatizing her as a young girl. Iris always struggled growing up, her mom and grandma didnt have everything handed to them, but they were still very close. Familiy is everything to Iris, she includes her mom and grandma in all the latest updates in her life. Iris ends up taking a job as Declans assistant, a risky position considering he had fired everyone up until then. Declan doesn’t fire her but actually takes a liking to her. Declan needs to start a family but the problem is that he is known for being cold hearted and mean. When his first plan backfires Iris steps up to the job. Iris and Declan agree it would strictly be for show until Declan can get his inheritance and become CEO. After the wedding they begin to feel a sence of attraction and pull to one another. For what seems like forever they are consumed by conflicting feelings for one another. After a “honeymoon” Declan comes to the conclusion that he is deeply in love with Iris and he is going to do anything and everything to have her. Throughout the book we see glimpses of Declans soft side as Iris reminds him a lot of his departed mother. After lots of time, experimenting, and talking about their feelings for one another, they realize how in love with each other they are. Iris wants a big family with multiple kids and Declan wants to have a family with his one true love. Towards the end they get into a fight over a business deal which splits them for days. Declan works to get Iris back and comes up with a plan to show her how much he loves her. In the end Iris and Declan have a big family and they live happily ever after. I think this book is a good book full of emotion and romance but there was a point near the middle where I got a little bored because it was just pages and pages of the same thing happening. Iris and Declan have feelings for eachother and they don't know how to feel about it and it got a little repetitive. I would've liked it a lot more if it was shorter, however I liked the story and there is a touch of rom-com which I liked. Overall I would give this book a 7/10 and I would recommend it to people to like slow-burn romances. 527 words
