Earth is believed to be uninhabitable, so all of the humans live on the Colony, which is a bunch of space crafts floating in space. Now, one-hundred of the kids that were Confined, which is the Colony’s form of jail, are being sent down to Earth to recolonize there and discover if humans can start to live there again. Clarke was confined for treason, and she feels betrayed by the boy she thought cared about her. Wells got himself sent down to earth with the rest of the juveniles so he could follow the girl he loves. Bellamy is one of the only humans with a sibling and he fights his way to get to Earth so he can keep her safe. Glass managed to get herself out of going to Earth, but she finds there are also struggles on the spacecraft. They have to figure out things for themselves in a new place humans haven’t been to for many years. And all of their stories are intertwined and they will have to work together to survive. The book was a little hard to follow because it switched point of views every chapter. So one chapter the characters would be on the spacecraft and then they would be on Earth. It was hard to remember which part each character left off on. But the book does have an interesting plot that keeps you wanting to read more. There are problems that occur both on Earth and on the spacecraft for the characters. I would recommend this book to others because of the interesting plot and great amount of detail put into the characters. But I would suggest future readers pay attention to which characters perspective they are reading from so that they won’t get confused. Overall, it was a good book.
