The Alloy of Law by Brandon Sanderson (5/5)

Have you ever wondered what it would be like if Sherlock Holmes had powers? Look no further than The Alloy of Law.

The Alloy of Law is a book written by Brandon Sanderson as a continuation of the original Mistborn trilogy. The book is set in the wild west era and is mainly fantasy, mystery, and action-focused. The main character Waxillium is a “twinborn” that uses Allomancy and Feruchemy to fight crime out in the Roughs. The Roughs are essentially a lawless wasteland outside of the large cities. Waxillium is a lawman who watches over the Roughs with a few other lawmen as his acquaintances. After some unfortunate circumstances, Waxillium is forced to go back to living in the city. Where he learns that life in the city can be just as dangerous as living in the roughs. This novel truly shows how much Sanderson can thrive when he puts pen to paper. Sanderson utilizes witty banter, action pack scenes, and character development to bloom a beautiful story that will leave the reader invested in each page.

In essence, Brandon Sanderson’s novel The Alloy of Law is a must-read for any who are interested in the Mistborn trilogy, even as a stand-alone book the story truly shines as a great book to pass the time. I highly recommend this book to any who are interested in young adult fantasy novels.
