The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J. Maas (5/5)

Sarah J. Maas’ intricate language engraves the essence of the story into my memory. The Assassin's Blade is the first in a nine book series, so it will be necessary to read the books in order. The story entails a 16 year old assassin, Celaena Sardothien, who embarks on a journey of self discovery. The storyline starts out with Celaena being called to the “Assassins Keep,” where she is sent out on a mission by her master/fatherly figure, Arobynn Hamel. As the story continues, she realizes how much deceit and lies surround her. Inevitably, she must face her choices and decide to either venture out on her own, abandoning the Assassin’s keep and Arobynn, or staying with the keep as Arobynn’s heir and right hand.

The book was suggested to me by my friends. I was a little unsure of what I would think; however, I was pleasantly surprised at how captivating the book was. I especially enjoyed the fantastical and action aspect because it kept me on my toes and brought me into a different spectrum of enticement.

I 100% recommend this book to any fantasy or action lover. It did not have a cliche fantasy book ending. It took me on a ride of a lifetime. I could not let go of this book until I finished the last sentence; it had me hooked. I don’t think there is anything I disliked about the novel.
