The Bomber Mafia by Malcolm Gladwell is a non-fiction book about a group of people in World War 2 who wanted to make wars less bloody by bombing military targets, not people. The author writes about the fight between General Haywood Hansell who wanted to bomb specific targets and General Curtis LeMay who want to bomb entire cities. The author made a good case for high altitude precision bombing but in reality it didn't work out due to weather, enemy attacks, and human error. General Hansell was a man with strong morals who wanted to minimize civilian casualties. General LeMay wanted to make the enemy lose hope and give up by bombing anywhere and everywhere. The book also covered the inventions that made this bombing possible like the B-29 Superfortress, the Norden bomb site, and napalm. I think most readers will root for General Hansell, but unfortunately precision bombing failed in World War 2. However, today the Air Force uses precision bombing. It may seem boring to some people but this is one of the most interesting books I've ever read. I am definitely going to read more books by Malcolm Gladwell.
