The fourth edition of the series, The Inheritance Games, is a thrilling read that is unlike any book of this entire series. The author, Jennifer Lynn Barnes has decided to tell the story from the perspective of Grayson and Jameson Hawthrone, their clashing personalities and past with heartbreaking loving triangles uncover parts of the story never seen before. In the first three books of this novel sequence, the story follows Avery Grambs, the heiress of Tobias Hawthorne, the world's richest billionaire who decided to pass everything down to a random stranger. This man was extremely fond of games, so much so, that when he had four grandsons (Jameson, Grayson, Nash, and Xander), he trained them to recognize and conquer any elaborate game or trick given to them. The entire series is centered around the games that Tobias Hawthorne has left for all future generations, so if you enjoyed the first three books, you will find this one even more exhilarating!! The setting is in the areas of Jameson and Grayon’s fathers, they are on a mission to relieve the damage their fathers have done before them. Jameson’s father lost his most prized possession, his family castle in Ireland to the most secret, highest-ranked bar in the world, the Devil's Mercy. This is the hardest game of secrets and betrayal that Avery and Jameson have attempted, the challenges pull the two lovers even closer together. Grayson has always been a lone wolf, he singlehandedly fixes a grand-scale money issue that his father created by passing away. Along with that, he meets his step sisters who know more about him than they should. All in all, if you liked the first three books in this series, then you will thoroughly enjoy this one! The reason that I did not give this book 5 stars is because Xander and Nash Hawthorne are not featured as much throughout this book. Even though they are side characters, they heavily affect the brother dynamic. Another reason why this was not my favorite book in the series is that the perspectives switch off between Jameson and Grayson Hawthrone, this lost most of my attention and I did not remember what was happening in each of their separate stories. Other than that, the games caught my attention and kept me up late on many nights because I had to know what happened next!
